The question is this:
If the guanine-cytosine content of a DNA molecule is 46%, what are the percentages of the four nitrogen bases in that molecule?

The DNA molecule has four nitrogen bases: adenine, thymine, cytosine and guanine. Adenine pairs with thymine and cytosine pairs with guanine.

If the content of guanine-cytosine is 46%, then the amount of guanine is equal to the amount of cytosine, the content of guanine is 23% and the content of cytosine is also 23%.

The content of adenine-thymine is 100% ā€” 46% = 54%. As the amount of adenine is equal the amount of thymine the content of adenine is 27% and the content of thymine is also 27%.

So the guanine content is 23%, the cytokine content is 23%, the adenine content is 27% and the thymine content is 27%, which makes up 100% of the genetic material.

Thank you!
